LIGHT & SILKY FACE OIL is a lightweight, quickly absorbed blend of plant oils rich in phytonutrients to help balance, soothe, rejuvenate and protect oily - normal skin. The lightweight essential fatty acids naturally present within the face oils quickly absorb deeply into the skin help to maintain a healthy skin barrier. A small amount of rarely found very long chain fatty acids provides a very thin silky surface protection to trap in moisture, this is why light & silky is best suited to oily or normal skin. The rich and velvety oil has a much higher content of the very long chain fatty acids to provide an extra dense surface protection, which is why it will feel too heavy for oily skin. The phytonutrients in the plant oils nourish the skin and the naturally present antioxidants help to fight against free radical damage, to help prevent premature ageing. If you would like to read a little more about caring for your skin type with plant oils, there’s more info at bottom of page.

DIRECTIONS

To Cleanse: Gently massage onto skin, then gently remove oil with a clean, warm, damp, soft cloth.
Effectively removes any makeup and cleanses without stripping the skin of its natural oils.

To Moisturise: Gently massage, onto warm, damp, skin, immediately after cleansing, to lock in moisture.  Apply face products slowly and gently in an upwards motion, as tugging the skin prematurely ages the skin.

Tip: If you have a spare few minutes, try a facial massage, use gentle upward strokes you will see a difference. Massage increases blood flow & oxygen to give a healthy glow and helps soften tone and smooth the skin.

CARING FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE WITH PLANT OILS

Oily skin produces excess sebum. I discovered my clients with oily skin find lightweight plant oils with a high content of essential fatty acids helps balance excessive sebum production and therefor notice a less shiny appearance. Clients with blemish prone skin have reported a reduction in breakouts & blemishes clear sooner within a few weeks of using my lightweight oils blends, hence the name light & silky face oil. The rich & velvety face oil will feel too heavy for very oily skin or skin prone to acne, because it is designed to help skin that lacks sebum production. I find blemish prone skin is often aided with the use of botanicals with gentle antimicrobial and anti inflammatory properties, that are well researched with a long anecdotal evidence, along with lightweight plant oil.

Combination skin has a combination of two or all three skin types. Those with combination skin prefer the light & silky face oil on oily - normal areas and the rich and velvety face oil applied to any dry areas, for extra protection against dehydrated skin.

Normal skin produces just the right amount of sebum production, the Goldilocks of skin types with normal skin tend to prefer light & silky face oil in the summer and rich and velvety oil in the winter, for extra protection against dehydration.

Dry skin has a lack of sebum production and requires extra protection, to discover more, please see the rich and velvety face oil page.

Dehydrated skin is due to trans epidermal water loss (TEWL), it is not a skin type as it is not dictated by the amount of sebum the skin produces, however skin is prone to dehydration when there is a lack of sebum. Dehydrated skin feels tight and uncomfortable and looks unhealthy, it can lead to other skin issues, as the protective skin barrier is compromised.

Dehydration is most common in dry skin due to the lack of the skins natural oils, frequent application of an appropriate moisturiser is most helpful as temporarily replaces the skins natural oil. Dry skin can become extremely dehydrated in winter or after harsh skin treatments.

Normal skin can become dehydrated in winter or harsh working/living environments or with harsh treatment of the skin, such as foaming cleansers, harsh exfoliating products, scrubbing or tugging the skin when removing makeup or applying products.

Dehydration can occur in oily skin, often when the skin is deliberately stripped of its sebum, with harsh topical application or medication, I find it is better to gently help the skin reduce its sebum production, with the use of particular plant oils, therefor avoiding dehydration and it’s possible complications and also reduce the shine and improve appearance.

The face oils have been designed with sensitive skin in mind, many clients have been recommended my face oil because they have sensitive/reactive skin and find it difficult to find moisturisers to suit them. Any skin type can be sensitive, however it is more common in dry/dehydrated skin or a skin that has been treated with harsh products/treatment, such as acne prone skin. For those with allergies to certain ingredients, formulations excluding essential oils or particular ingredients can be requested via email.

It is important to keep sensitive skin protected against dehydration, as a compromised skin barrier will not be doing it’s best to fight against skin aggressors. Therefor pay particular attention to keeping dry sensitive skin well moisturised at all times, use gentle products to care for and protect skin.

All skin types can benefit from phytonutrient and antioxidant rich plant oils to protect against free radical damage and premature ageing.
